-           Clotch size: Lays 1-6 eggs

-           Nesting place: on low islands or islets in Breiðafjörður Bay, W-Iceland

-           The nest: Pile of seaweed, lined with feathers and grass

-           Population: 7 thousand pairs

-           Fledging period: about 53 days

-           Characteristic: Swims low in the water with its head held high. After diving shag must dry its wings and often sits with wings stretched out

-           Normally gregarious

-           Sounds: Gives a loud, hoarse cry at nesting grounds
