Arrives in the Icelandic waters in the spring after spending the winter in the South

Surfaces with it’s body more or less straightened, showing more of the whale when it blows and doesn’t arch it’s back when diving

Tends to shallow dive and has a regular diving pattern of several short dives with approximately 30 seconds intervals followed by diving for 5-10 minutes

The blow is up to 3 m high

Can have white ‘scaly’ patches on the dorsal area

Their ‘fluke prints’ are more visible than other whales’ due to their shallow dives
