Tour at 13:00
At the beginning of our tour we spotted very soon some Harbour porpoises, a group of them, they were maybe just 100m in front of us. We havent seen them for a long time, so it was special to see them again. As they are shy and fast, they disappeared. But a Minke whale appeared, surfaced for 3times and went for a dive. Another group of Harbour porpoises traveled close to the boat. Later there was a blow visible of a Humpback whale! We try to follow it, but its so shy and it traveled so fast, we saw it several time far in distance to breath and dive, but we had to go back to the harbour, so there was no more time to follow this whale. On the way back we met a group of White beaked dolphins. A small group, maybe just 3. Very short time they surf next to our boat and then they disappeared. The weather was fantastic today, sunny, warm, sea was calm and the visibility perfect. and we saw all the four species, that we can encounter in the Faxafloi bay! ;))
Tour at 9:00
No rain this morning, just sun and calm sea. We spotted one minke whale very soon after we came out on the bay. We just saw it twice before it deep dived and only a few passengers were able to spot it. We decided to head further out and spotted a group of white-beaked dolphins making splashes in the distance. We sailed closer and were able to get good views of the dolphins, they came very close to the boat. Then we left the dolphins and headed further out in search of whales. A long times passed without any sightings... but at the very end of the tour we found three nice minke whales in the same area and were able to watch them very closely. Then at the very end of the tour, when we were only 1 km from Akurey, we spotted one more minke whale :-)
