CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00

Report from Hafsulan: Today we experienced a very cold wind on our faces, but loads of sun to balance! The sea was a bit choppy, but we were ready to go and see what Faxaflói bay had for us. So off we went, the eyes sharp at the horizon and also around the boat. Right when we left the harbour, a couple of tiny dorsal fins popped up, and we had 2 harbour porpoises saying hello and right after saying their goodbyes. We continued the trip and the captain spotted a blow not too far, as we stopped and waited for more. He saw it again but we couldn't identify the species. By the type of behaviour - super elusive - we thought it could be a minke, but we decided to go on and minutes later we ended up seeing a bigger blow in the distance. When we got closer, we spotted the back of a humpback whale, a little bit unpredictable, coming closer and coming far. It was beautiful the see the body of this individual shining with the sun, while going for a very slow deep dive, leaving part of the tail in the air for a few seconds before actually disappearing. While waiting for it to come back to the surface, we also spotted a minke whale, and this time we could confirm it: fast, pointy and falcate dorsal fin, dark silver body in the sun. We stayed a bit more in the area, looking all around, before starting our journey back home. A great day to start our day, for sure!

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Hafsulan: this afternoon we sailed with sun above us. The wind was nice and many guests were enjoying the sail on the outside decks of the ship. On the way we saw a few puffins flying around, good sign that the summer is coming. Our first stop was when a passenger spotted a first whale - a minke whale! The animal came up a few times so we all could have a look. We kept sailing again, once we heard of dolphins in the area and sure enough we soon spotted a pod of 10-15 white-beaked dolphins. The pod mostly consisted of mothers with babies but we were still able to get close and have a good look. Some of the juveniles were even jumping!
